Job Summary
A company is looking for a Public Benefit Specialist.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess eligibility for state Medicaid benefits and financial assistance programs for uninsured/under-insured patients
- Coordinate application processes and follow up on submissions to ensure timely billing and adjustments
- Maintain working knowledge of state and federal program requirements and collaborate with Medicaid caseworkers and revenue cycle departments
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in the healthcare industry, particularly with hospital financial issues
- Understanding of Revenue Cycle processes, including admissions, billing, payments, and denials
- Knowledge of patient insurance processes, including authorizations and benefits verification
- Familiarity with health insurance requirements and medical terminology or CPT codes
- High School Diploma or GED; relevant post-secondary education may be considered in lieu of a degree
