Python Software Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the technical build-out of a Python-based rating infrastructure, the full-time AVP, Rating Platform Software Engineer will design and develop internal pricing services, set architectural direction, and collaborate with actuarial and product teams to translate filed rating plans into production-grade code, with the possibility of remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain internal Python-based pricing services and data models for commercial lines
• Develop scalable testing infrastructure and automated validation frameworks to ensure rating accuracy
• Lead a dotted-line squad of developers in an agile delivery model, managing sprint priorities and technical direction

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering, actuarial systems development, or insurance technology with technical leadership
• Hands-on mastery of Python and SQL, with experience in AI-native workflows
• Demonstrated experience building or contributing to a rating engine or pricing system
• Strong system design instincts, including API design and service architecture
• Ability to operate in a regulated environment and translate between actuarial logic and engineering implementation
