Quality Engineering Director

Job Summary

Seeking a hands-on and strategic Director of Quality Engineering to build and lead the quality practice at a growing fintech firm, this full-time remote role will establish quality standards across the software delivery lifecycle, manage a team of quality engineers, and embed quality early in the product development process.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and implement a comprehensive quality strategy, culture, and execution framework
• Lead manual and exploratory testing efforts, creating test plans and risk-based testing frameworks
• Architect and maintain a scalable automation suite while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure quality integration

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in quality engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Strong background in test automation using tools such as Jest, Playwright, or Cypress in a TypeScript/NestJS environment
• Experience with financial or compliance-sensitive products and familiarity with consumer lending compliance standards
• Proven ability to build a QA practice from an early-stage or greenfield state
• Familiarity with API testing patterns and exposure to AI evaluation tooling
