Quantum Computing Engineer
Job Summary
Providing specialized engineering and technical expertise in quantum computing and cryptography, the full-time remote Quantum Computing Cryptography Engineer will assess existing cryptographic technologies, evaluate quantum-related cybersecurity risks, and develop strategies for transitioning VA systems to secure, quantum-resistant cryptographic standards.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise in quantum computing and cryptography to support VA cybersecurity architecture and engineering initiatives
- Analyze the potential cybersecurity impact of quantum computing technologies on existing VA systems and develop risk-based migration strategies
- Develop and maintain an enterprise cryptographic inventory and transition plans for adopting post-quantum cryptography standards
Required qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years IT experience, including at least 5 years in Quantum Computing and Cryptography
- Expertise in quantum mechanics, quantum algorithms, and quantum programming languages such as Qiskit and Cirq
- Proficiency in cryptographic protocols and principles of public-key infrastructure (PKI)
- Experience with classical and quantum simulation tools and assessing organizational cryptographic inventory
- Strong background in project management within large organizations or government agencies
