Job Summary

Seeking a full-time remote Query Engine Engineer focused on Apache Trino internals, the successful candidate will contribute to production-grade code, optimize query planning and execution, and enhance performance for distributed SQL workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute production-grade code to the Trino project, particularly in the planner, execution engine, or connectors
• Debug and optimize query planning, cost-based optimization, and distributed execution at enterprise scale
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor senior engineers through code reviews and design critiques

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in software development
• Strong Java skills and experience with distributed systems
• Working knowledge of SQL engine internals, including query planning and optimization
• Foundation in database internals and understanding of SQL engine execution layers
• Familiarity with JVM performance characteristics
