Referral Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

To ensure optimal reimbursement for services, the full-time Referral Authorization Specialist will verify patient and insurance information, document authorizations in Epic, and collaborate with referring providers, all while working remotely after an initial onsite training period in the Madison, WI region.

Key responsibilities

• Verify patient and insurance information through coverage and eligibility checks
• Document and procure necessary authorizations for scheduled services and direct admissions
• Maintain effective communication with referring providers and various hospital departments

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting with scheduling, registration, or insurance verification
• Knowledge of healthcare insurance industry and regulations
• Experience with medical terminology and customer service
• Standard keyboarding skills and knowledge of healthcare operations
