Referral Coordinator

Job Summary

To facilitate patient referrals effectively, the full-time remote Referral Coordinator will serve as a subject matter expert in using data and analytics to identify quality specialists, communicate patient preferences, and manage the referral process while ensuring exceptional customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between patients and referral specialists, ensuring effective communication of patient preferences and care coordination
• Interview patients to gather necessary medical information and advocate for their care needs while providing guidance on insurance coverage and options
• Document referral activities and patient interactions in multiple systems, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and maintaining confidentiality

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma and 2+ years of experience in a medical office, central scheduling, or clinical navigator role
• Experience with insurance plans and referral management, including knowledge of medical terminology and procedural coding
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and privacy standards to secure protected health information
• Strong computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 applications
• Ability to work remotely in a secure, distraction-free environment with reliable internet access
