Referral Coordinator

Job Summary

To support timely patient access, the full-time Relief Referral Coordinator will manage the intake, triage, and processing of external patient care requests for ambulatory clinics and diagnostic services, ensuring accurate documentation and routing within the electronic medical record system.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process incoming referrals, validating completeness and urgency based on established criteria
• Communicate with external providers and internal stakeholders to clarify referral details and obtain necessary information
• Monitor referral workflows, identifying trends and quality concerns to support operational improvements

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 2 years' experience in an ambulatory clinic, OR an Associate's degree plus 4 years' experience, OR a High School diploma plus 6 years' experience in an ambulatory clinic
• Knowledge of multiple ambulatory workflows
• Experience interpreting medical terminology and ICD10 diagnosis codes
• Proficiency in using Epic electronic medical records in an ambulatory or access-focused workflow
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy
