Referral Coordinator

Job Summary

To support timely patient access, the full-time Relief Referral Coordinator will manage the intake, triage, and processing of external patient care requests for ambulatory clinics and diagnostic services, working remotely while ensuring accurate documentation and routing within the electronic medical record system.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, review, and process incoming referrals and related documentation using Epic
• Communicate with referring providers and clinic staff to obtain necessary clinical information and clarify referral intent
• Identify trends and quality concerns impacting referral accuracy and patient access, reporting issues to leadership

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 2 years' experience in an ambulatory clinic, or Associate's degree plus 4 years' experience, or High School diploma plus 6 years' experience
• Knowledge of multiple ambulatory workflows
• Proficiency in interpreting medical terminology and ICD10 diagnosis codes
• Experience with electronic medical records, specifically Epic
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy
