Job Summary
Providing practical legal guidance, the full-time Regulatory Counsel (State Licensed) will support the Bank's Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) and payments businesses, advising on compliance with banking and payments regulations while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide legal and regulatory guidance for BaaS initiatives, including compliance with federal and state consumer lending and payments laws
- Advise cross-functional teams on consumer financial laws and regulatory requirements in fintech environments
- Track legal developments affecting BaaS and payments programs, translating them into practical internal guidance
Required qualifications
- J.D. and active membership in good standing in at least one state bar
- Approximately 6+ years of relevant legal experience in banking, fintech, or consumer financial services
- Ability to interpret and apply banking and payments laws to innovative products and services
- Experience reviewing or advising on consumer-facing product terms and disclosures
- Familiarity with payment systems and regulations, including ACH, wires, and crypto-enabled payment programs preferred
