Release of Information Technician

Job Summary

Managing requests for medical record information, the full-time Release of Information Technician will provide prompt and courteous service in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Process medical record requests efficiently while maintaining quality and accuracy within established timelines
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and state and federal laws regarding the release of protected health information
• Utilize software applications to fulfill requests and safeguard patient privacy by controlling access to medical information

Required qualifications

• Associate's degree in a Health Information Management (HIM) related field or two years of equivalent work experience
• Prior experience in a Health Information Management department related to record maintenance or release of information is preferred
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification is preferred
• Proficiency in keyboarding skills
• Practical knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
