Remote Academic Librarian

Job Summary

Providing virtual reference services, the part-time Remote Academic Librarian will assist students, faculty, and staff in developing research skills and utilizing library resources effectively while promoting library services and maintaining a customer-focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide reference and research services through various communication modes, including phone, email, and chat
• Update and maintain library instruction resources and operational job aids
• Participate in team training and professional development opportunities while collaborating with library staff

Required qualifications

• A Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Master of Library Science (MLS) from an ALA accredited institution
• One to three years of relevant reference librarian experience in an academic library preferred
• Strong commitment to customer service and experience working with diverse adult learners
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
• Knowledge of library research and online searching, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
