Job Summary

General Summary:
VirBELA is looking for a highly-skilled back-end software engineer to join our technology team. Our ideal candidate will have expert knowledge in software engineering of back-end systems that support the operations of virtual world platforms. This can include experience in software development for games, simulations or other network-intensive, real-time environments.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop scalable, networked systems that integrate multi-modal components, including audio, web data, visual simulations, and video
Integrate complex internal code base with external libraries
Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, and security of enterprise system architecture.
Leverage knowledge of industry best practices in design decisions
Exert technical advice to multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience
Fully and completely understand system interdependencies and limitations
Work with the team to integrate back-end systems with front-end visualization

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Education:
B.S./M.S. in Computer Science required
Experience:
Strong technical credentials, with at least 3+ years of technical engineering, including proven software deliverables
Highly proficient in object-oriented design and programming in C++
Solid coding practices including design, unit testing, and peer code-reviews
Experience with C#, Java and/or Unity is a plus
Experience with AWS is a plus
VOIP experience is a plus
Game Engine Design is a plus, particularly with multi-user game architectures
