Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Remote Certified Outpatient Coder will code outpatient procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and payer policies while engaging in professional development and communication with providers.
Key responsibilities
- Codes procedures and diagnoses in accordance with official coding guidelines and compliance standards
- Participates in professional development through online educational sessions and maintains records of participation
- Communicates with providers to ensure accurate and specific documentation for coding purposes
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma with knowledge in Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology
- Two years of coding experience or three years of coding experience in lieu of coding education
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) required upon hire
- Epic Certifications must be obtained by passing the Epic Healthcare Assessment within five business days of hire
- Coding education is required
