Term: 4-6 months as a 1099 contractor to start, with the potential to grow into a permanent and/or full-time position thereafter

The International College of Dentists (ICD) has been Honoring Leading Dentists Since 1920 with 12,000 members in 122 countries. ICD is a truly international organization that is guided by the values of leadership, honor, humanitarianism, education and professional collaboration. ICD members serve altruistically in many ways including through humanitarian outreach and educational programs, especially in underdeveloped communities.

About the position:
ICD seeks a contract communications specialist to join our communications team! The position is for 4-6 months with potential to grow into full-time and/or consideration for rehire depending on performance and employer needs. Hours per week will vary by demands but can be estimated somewhere in the 5-15 hours/week range.

Who we are looking for:
ICD is looking for a self-starter who has appropriate digital communications training or experience and can tackle a variety of tasks under deadlines, with minimal oversight. This person should understand the nonprofit industry or have a passion for work that contributes to philanthropy and international goodwill.

Key Responsibilities:
Assists in writing content, editing and proofreading (grammar, format, clarity) for web pages, social media, professional and public relations correspondences, publications, promotional materials, internal documents, and presentations.
Contribute to developing and updating website and social media pages
Support for additional projects and campaigns as needed (Centennial, fundraising campaigns, meeting materials, etc.).
Weekly meetings coordinated with direct supervisor as necessary.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in English, communications, English, journalism, humanities, public relations, media design or related field, OR 4 years of equivalent writing/editing experience and/or education.
Demonstrated knowledge of writing, editing and proofreading
Experience and/or knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Suite
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
Design and website (WordPress) experience is a plus.
Experience working with nonprofit or membership association
Experience with social media and fundraising campaigns

Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is $17-20, depending on experience. As a 1099 contractor, although no benefits are provided, expense reimbursement is negotiable for items like software, technology, travel, etc. that are required to complete the job duties.
