Job Summary
A media company needs applicants for an opening for a Remote Community Opinion Editor in San Diego.
Core Responsibilities of this position include:
- Editing commentaries and letters to the editor for accuracy, authoritativeness and AP style
- Writing headlines and choosing art to accompany essays online and in the newspaper
- Interviewing newsmakers, experts, community leaders, political candidates and others
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 1-2 years of writing, editing or production experience at a professional news outlet
- Excellent news judgment, a sense of fairness and attention to detail
- Strong organizational, communication and planning skills
- Experience working across newsroom disciplines and an inclusive approach in the workplace
