Job Summary

VirBELA is looking for an experienced Corporate Paralegal to handle complex paralegal tasks, as well as to take a leading role in the coordination of legal operations. This role requires advanced skills and sound judgment.



The Corporate Paralegal's responsibilities include matters involving contracts (especially relating to software, and software as a service), employment law, intellectual property, and compliance. The duties are varied and non-routine in nature and require an individual who can independently perform a variety of complex paralegal functions with minimal supervision.



The Corporate Paralegal will be expected to communicate effectively with company sales teams, technical teams, and the General Counsel, and exercise good judgment, common sense, and initiative, to anticipate and spot potential issues while fulfilling responsibilities.



Major Duties & Responsibilities:


Performs, and helps perform, contract review/analysis under supervision of General Counsel and/or Corporate Counsel, and communicates review to the legal team, and directly to business and technical teams.

Communicates with operating groups regarding legal procedures, and compliance matters.

Conducts legal research and analysis, and recommends an appropriate course of action and next steps.

Helps implement and operate a contracts database and train others on use of contracts database.

Performs administrative functions, and co-supervises assistant of the Legal Department.

Helps establish and communicate standard procedures for the Legal Department.


Education:


BA/BS in law or related field required

Paralegal certification highly preferred.



Requirements
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:


8+ years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm or legal department.

Strong understanding of contracts (intellectual property experience preferred).

Will need to be proactive and able to identify issues, legal risks, and potential liabilities in order to report these to the corporate attorneys.

Ability to work well under pressure, as our corporate setting is very fast-paced.

Exercises good judgment and discretion in decision making.

Strong organizational skills and computer skills (Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and database management) required.

Works autonomously with minimal supervision required.

Excellent follow-through and problem-solving skills.

Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Discretion and ability to function in a highly confidential environment.

Analytical thinking, strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

Ability to work with business and legal partners across multiple time-zones.

Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Ability to quickly learn how to use new systems and technology.
