Remote Database Engineer

Job Summary

To support critical environmental research, the full-time Remote Database Engineer will design, optimize, and manage data systems, ensuring efficient storage and delivery of large volumes of environmental data while collaborating with federal stakeholders and technical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases, ensuring efficient data storage and management
• Develop scalable solutions for data orchestration and automation, enhancing operational reliability
• Support Python-driven automation and CI/CD processes to maintain smooth data system operations

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or 4 years of relevant experience with active IT certifications, or 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree
• Experience in writing efficient SQL and managing PostgreSQL databases with large datasets
• Proficiency in Python for automating data workflows and improving data management efficiency
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices, including database provisioning automation and version control using GitLab or GitHub
• Comfortable using AWS services such as EC2, S3, and RDS for cloud-based applications and databases
