Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Promote and mentor quality and security-based practices among the engineering team
Contribute to the high-level technical road map
Provide technical and career leadership to the team
Champion the quality and security of the product
Foster a shared technical vision for the product
Promote a healthy balance of new features and technical debt
Explore and qualify new technologies
Support the product team in evaluating cost, risk, and value
Maintain a positive work culture that celebrates the diversity of thought and keeps employee satisfaction high
Expand career development paths for the engineering department
Guide process improvement for the SDLC
Establish and maintain software engineer interview process
Hiring approval of software engineers
Foster communication and collaboration between engineering groups
Articulate technical challenges to non-technical leaders
Establish and deliver on quarterly goals for the department
Provide mentorship to engineering leads and managers
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field required
Masters Degree preferred
Experience/Skill Set:
5+ years working as a software engineer
3+ years of experience in a supervisory role
Experience with real-time 3D virtual environments a plus
Experience with native and browser-based applications a plus
Experience working in an Agile environment
Excellent communication skills
Excellent relationship-building skills - build rapport, respect & trust with the team
Experience mentoring engineering managers a plus
