Job Summary

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
ContentBacon is looking for freelance technical editors to support our editing needs, including, but not limited to blog posts, web copy, landing page copy, social media posts, eBooks, whitepapers, email campaigns, and newsletters.

WHAT OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE LOOKS LIKE?
Our ideal team member must be comfortable getting on the phone and interviewing our customers to better understand a topic/industry. They must also understand best practices for writing/editing in the digital space, what it takes to edit/create content with a specific tone and voice, and above all, know how to tell a compelling story.

Required experience:

  • Have 2 years of professional editing experience in B2B/B2C-focused content, particularly in the following topics: Information Technology; Cloud-managed services; Cloud computing; Amazon Web Services; SAP integrations, especially Salesforce; Digital Imaging and Communications; Digital Supply Chain forecasting and planning; Software Development; Digital Transformation; Digital Customer experience; E-Commerce portals; DigitalUX; ERP to front-end integration (CRM/E-Commerce); AR/VR; Artificial Intelligence; Machine Learning; Data Analytics; and Fintech

  • Must-haves:
  • Immaculate edits (obviously)
  • Be a self-starter who can work remotely
  • Be comfortable conducting subject matter expert (SME) interviews with our customers
  • Have a strategic mindset - understand the piece of content and how it fits into the bigger picture
  • Be proficient with Word and Google Docs
  • Be deadline-driven and communicative
  • Be open to giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Has a positive, whatever it takes attitude
  • Willing to take on additional responsibilities as the company grows
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly-organized and detail-oriented

  • Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with a team of writers and strategists to ensure content is on point and fits well with the customers' needs
  • Create quarterly content calendars (if needed) that support strategic goals
  • Assigns content to writers appropriately
  • Proofread, edit, and improve the content
  • Take time to understand the customer's business, brand voice, and audience
  • Conduct research to become experts in unfamiliar subjects
  • Understand what content written for humans and optimized for search means and knows how to incorporate SEO best practices
  • Work within our project management system
  • Understand inbound marketing
  • (Good to have: Inbound Certification from HubSpot)
  • Provide writers with constructive feedback and advice about their work
  • Ensure that the content quality produced by writers is up to the customer's standard
