Job Summary
A medical care system is searching for a person to fill their position for a Remote Inpatient Coder.
Candidates will be responsible for the following:
- Evaluating health record documentation to optimize reimbursement by ensuring that diagnostic and procedural codes and other documentation accurately reflect and support the inpatient visit
- Ensuring that data complies with regulatory and coding guidelines
- Reviewing medical information and procedures for a given visit to accurately assign and sequence the correct ICD-1 CM/PCS codes and DRG assignment
Must meet the following requirements for consideration:
- Credentialed as or eligible (within two years of date of hire) for: CCS, CIC, RHIT, RHIA
- 3 years hospital inpatient coding experience AND a passing score on the company's internal inpatient coding skills assessment
- Successful completion or currently enrolled in a Health Information Technology or Health Information Administration program which includes course work in ICD-1-CM/PCS, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and disease processes; or
- Successful completion of a medical coding program AND one (1) year hospital inpatient coding experience AND a passing score on the company's internal inpatient coding skills assessment
