Job Summary
A public teaching health system is in need of a Remote Inpatient Coding Specialist.
Must be able to:
- Interpret medical codes based on patients' health and treatment documents
- Bill and File essential office processes
- Ensure high levels of patient data confidentiality. IT systems used by Inpatient coders either onsite or at remote coding facilities have encryption and other security systems enabled to maintain this confidentiality.
Must meet the following requirements for consideration:
- Possess knowledge of ICD-10-CM, PCS, CPT/ HCPCS; Severity of Illness and Risk of Mortality codes; and to Query the Physicians, as appropriate
- Literate and computer savv
- three (3) years of acute care/or outpatient coding experience that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Certification as either RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC.
- knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, surgical terminology, pharmacological terminology, patient care documentation terminology.
