Job Summary
A non-profit owned media company is seeking a Remote Local News Editor.
Individual must be able to fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Edit reporters' stories from across a nationwide news ecosystem, including freelance contributors
- Identify, brainstorm, and assign coverage areas and stories
- Write stories as needed, and copy edit all stories under your management
Position Requirements Include:
- 3-5 years as an editor, associate editor, or assistant editor for a digital or print news publication
- Interest in US national politics, policy, and other issues
- Multitask and take direction in a busy news environment
- Manage multiple deadlines
- Strong story sense and able to make a story resonate in a digital environment
- Interest or prior experience in a fast-growth startup environment
