Remote Medical Coder

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Facility Outpatient Medical Coder, the full-time remote position will focus on coding and abstracting services for emergency room facility accounts, utilizing established coding principles to assign diagnostic and procedural codes after reviewing medical records.

Key responsibilities

• Review medical records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures for emergency room encounters
• Assign Evaluation & Management (E/M) levels and principal/secondary CPT codes for procedures, injections, and infusions
• Participate in Coding Roundtables and maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and regulations

Required qualifications

• CPC and COC coding credentials
• Over 3 years of experience coding Facility and Profee charts for Outpatient settings (Ancillary, Clinic, and ED)
• Extensive knowledge of CPT coding principles, reimbursement systems, and relevant regulations
• Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
• A passing score on the coding proficiency tests is required
