Job Summary
A private, non-profit academic medical center is filling a position for a Remote Medical Coder I in Boston.
Candidates will be responsible for the following:
- Reviewing patient medical records
- Assigning grouper codes to each record according to patient type and financial class
- Assisting the clinical documentation specialists in medical record documentation auditing
Must meet the following requirements for consideration:
- At least 12 months of full-time coding experience in an acute care facility
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 Coding conventions
- Knowledge of the various DRG systems (CMS DRGs, AP-DRG, and APR-DRGs)
- Knowledge of health records, computerized billing and charging systems, Microsoft applications, data integrity, and processing techniques
- Ability to solve problems appropriately using job knowledge and current policies/procedures
