Remote Mortgage Underwriter

Job Summary

Reviewing and underwriting closed loan packages, the full-time Remote Mortgage Underwriter will ensure compliance with FNMA and internal guidelines while working independently in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Review and underwrite closed loan packages for compliance with guidelines
• Validate income, assets, credit, and collateral documentation to determine loan eligibility
• Communicate with correspondent sellers regarding loan decisions and documentation needs

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field preferred
• Minimum of four years of related experience in a credit union, bank, or financial institution
• Hands-on experience with Encompass within the last 12 months
• Detailed knowledge of secondary market guidelines and some knowledge of regulatory issues
• Compliance with Mortgage Loan Originator requirements set forth in the SAFE Act
