Remote Non-QM Underwriter

Job Summary

Evaluating mortgage loan applications outside traditional Qualified Mortgage (QM) guidelines, the full-time Remote Non-QM Underwriter will manually underwrite transactions, perform quality control audits, and collaborate with internal staff and clients to ensure compliance and assess borrower risk.

Key responsibilities

• Manually underwrite mortgage loan transactions to meet company and investor credit guidelines
• Perform quality control audits of third-party vendors to ensure compliance with credit requirements
• Analyze loan applications and conduct financial due diligence to assess borrower creditworthiness and loan risk

Required qualifications

• Recent hands-on non-QM underwriting experience, including DSCR and Bank Statement qualifications
• 5+ years of experience as an underwriter with a high-volume background
• Proficiency in Encompass and ability to navigate workflows and manage conditions efficiently
• Strong understanding of non-QM guidelines, investor overlays, and risk layering
• Ability to manually calculate income for complex self-employed borrowers and layered income sources
