Remote Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Remote Outpatient Coder will code and abstract medical records for outpatient services, ensuring accurate assignment of diagnoses and procedures while supporting the Health Information Management Department.

Key responsibilities

• Codes and abstracts medical records for outpatient services, following established conventions and guidelines
• Assists with coding and leveling emergency room cases and infusion cases as needed
• Reviews medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10CM/PCS codes or CPT codes to diagnoses and procedures

Required qualifications

• Formal working knowledge equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years of college)
• One (1) to three (3) years of relevant coding experience
• Certifications such as CCS, COC, RHIA, or RHIT are required
