Remote Outpatient Medical Coder

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Outpatient Medical Coder, the fully remote position will focus on accurately reviewing, coding, and abstracting outpatient medical records to ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review outpatient medical records to identify documented diagnoses and procedures
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes in accordance with established coding guidelines
• Ensure coding accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations

Required qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent specialized education and training required
• One (1) to three (3) years of outpatient medical coding experience
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and outpatient coding guidelines
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required
