Remote Patient Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Patient Access Services Authorization Representative will perform insurance verification and authorization functions, ensuring compliance with department standards and reducing authorization-related denials.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately complete authorization initiation requests and validate existing authorizations for all service lines
• Provide necessary authorization information to staff and maintain records of referral activity and authorizations
• Respond to provider orders for tests and procedures, obtaining authorizations while staying current on payer requirements

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required
• Minimum of three years of experience in healthcare insurance and/or authorizations
• Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD codes
• Proficiency in common office software, including word processing and spreadsheets
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
