Job Summary
VirBELA is seeking individuals who are mature, inquisitive, reliable, self-directed, and interested in developing virtual worlds and simulations in a rapidly growing business. As a Product Owner at VirBELA you will be working on a cross-disciplinary team that includes organizational psychologists, corporate leaders, virtual world specialists, and domain experts.
Position Summary
The Product Owner works with the Agile teams and stakeholders at VirBELA, aligning the vision for all in one shared product backlog. The Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the value of the product resulting from work of the Development Team. They have the authority to order the product backlog and align teams to meet release goals.
Essential Duties
Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics, and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
Guide release planning and align it with the overall strategy and roadmap
Ensure that the Product Backlog is visible, transparent, clear to all, and shows what the Scrum Team will work on next
Clearly expressing Product Backlog items
Ordering the items in the Product Backlog to best achieve goals and missions
Optimizing the value of the work the Development Team performs
Ensuring the Development Team understands items in the Product Backlog to the level needed
Communicating regularly with all stakeholders including sales, marketing, customer service, and company leadership
Requirements
Required Skills/Experience
Holds a current certification as a CSPO, PSPO, or PSM
3+ years of experience as a Product Owner for a live application
Experience working on remote, distributed teams preferred
A BS degree in a related field (computer science, marketing, etc)
Great interpersonal and communication skills
