Job Summary
Capstone is hiring Developers with both RPG and Java experience for a long term project with our client. This is a position that will require two weeks on site (expenses paid) and then will transition to 100% remote. There is an opportunity for this to go multiple years where you would switch to coding in your primary discipline after 12-18 months.
Essential Job Functions
Generally takes leadership role in guiding projects through the complete software development life cycle
Solid understanding of secure coding techniques and best practices
Able to jump in and work on multiple software applications
Conducts code reviews and ensures coding best practices are being followed
Recommend software improvements and changes to systems, as needed
May approve software to be deployed to production systems
Perform software and data analysis to uncover issues and solve complicated problems that typically span multiple systems
Lead various meetings to gather software requirements and project details
Create or update advanced project documentation
Test software to validate accuracy of code and high quality software systems
Skills and Qualifications
4+ years of Java development experience, preferred experience in at least Java 8
Full stack experience, specifically with Swing and/or Java FX experience
Able to read RPG (AS400 iSeries code), preference given to proven RPG coding experience
Advanced knowledge of Project Development Life Cycle (PDLC) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Ability to effectively multitask
Software debugging and testing knowledge
Advanced understanding of complex computer systems (multiple programs, databases, communications etc)
Advanced knowledge of programming, database systems, and systems analysis and design
Ability to write advanced technical documentation
Advanced problem-solving skills
Good verbal and written communications skills
Ability to learn independently
Willingness to work flexible schedule including nights/weekends
High School diploma or equivalent
