Job Summary

The SBA Credit Analyst is responsible for gathering and analyzing credit information on current and potential borrowers; determines the advisability of granting credit for diversified types of loans, assists loan officers in writing loan requests; promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

3. Works directly with brokers to review initial loan requests.
4. Responsible for completing financial statement and tax return spreads and/or cash flow analyses.
5. Responsible for drafting LOI's and creating a loan structure that is eligible to SBA and within bank guidelines.
6. Keeps active credit files accurate within ShareFile until assigned to underwriter.
7. Responsible for keeping the pipeline report up to date.
8. Assists loan officers in gathering data from customers, internal and outside sources, prepares spreadsheets and analyzes financial information including financial statements and tax returns; contacts customers for additional information and clarification of data.
9. Assists loan officers in gathering current financial statements for consumer/commercial accounts; orders credit reports, ensures credit inquiries and UCC filings are researched to determine credit worthiness and appropriate collateral positioning are achieved.
10. Assists Loan Servicing with items needed to prepare documents and fund loans, such as insurance, etc.
11. Performs asset verification, researches assessor records, Zillow, secretary of state, fictitious firm name filings, business websites, contractor's board, medical, dental boards, etc.
12. Assists the loan officers in the review and renewal of credit facilities; provide back up support.
13. Develops knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors, and competition.
14. Checks pledged assets as requested by loan officers.
15. Assists in the obtaining information to complete BSA CIP and Risk Rating forms.
16. Follows up on outstanding tickler items.
17. Performs property inspections and detailed lease reviews, as needed.
18. Trains and/or mentors credit analyst(s).
19. Prepares needs letters, decline worksheets and decline letters.
20. Collects monthly client Accounts Receivable reports and assists in the preparation of Borrowing Base Certificates.
21. Communicates with borrowers to follow-up on financial packages.
22. Sets up borrower files on Sharefile.com, sending appropriate links to the borrower for uploading documentation, downloading documentation to the lending server, printing, and organizing data.
23. Researches and compiles business financial ratio benchmarks through the Risk Management Association.
24. Under the direction of the loan officer, initiates preparation of the Credit Approval Memorandum, including preparation of cash flow analysis, and personal financial statement analysis.
25. Reinforces the application of superior customer service through his or her own example along with appropriate follow through with involved customers and employees.
26. Operates computer terminal or personal computer to process account activity, determine balances and resolve problems within given authority.

The position of SBA Credit Analyst performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The position of SBA Credit Analyst is not responsible for the supervision of any employee(s).

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The incumbent is in a non-confined office type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.
The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 35 pounds), driving, carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.
The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, beeper, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), check protector, microfilm equipment, encoder, money counter, credit card terminal, typewriter, computer terminal, personal computer and related printers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree from a 4 year college or university; or 5 years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of an in-depth background in lending or finance. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be applicable to the financial industry.
Advanced knowledge lending products and services; related state and federal laws and regulations, and other related policies and procedures.
Intermediate experience, knowledge and training in all lending activities and terminology.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Advanced skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
Intermediate math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence and procedures, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.
