Remote Scenario Desk Underwriter

Job Summary

Providing timely underwriting guidance on complex loan files, the full-time Remote Scenario Desk Underwriter will evaluate challenging borrower situations, review intricate tax calculations, and offer alternative financing solutions to support the branch network.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate challenging borrower, credit, and income situations prior to loan file submission
• Review tax return calculations and determine eligibility for various income types
• Contribute to a positive team environment and participate in special projects as needed

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of residential loan underwriting experience, preferably with Mortgage Brokers
• Proficiency with Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Freddie Mac Loan Product Advisor (LPA)
• Solid understanding of mortgage lending regulations and guidelines, including FHA, VA, and USDA
• Deep knowledge of mortgage insurance guidelines and the real estate lending lifecycle
• DE and VA SAR certifications are highly preferred
