Job Summary

As a Scrum Master at VirBELA you will be working on a cross-disciplinary team that includes organizational psychologists, corporate leaders, virtual world specialists, and domain experts.
Position Summary
The core responsibility is to facilitate all aspects of agile development for a remote, distributed team of engineers, artists, and quality assurance testers. You will be our agile champion, coach, and mentor as we rapidly scale our team and work to implement best practices and processes for developing high quality software.
Essential Duties
Facilitate all aspects of agile development including daily standups, planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Aid in sprint planning and task estimation, and protect the team from over-committing and scope creep.
Take ownership of the administration of Jira, including creating and updating projects, team boards, backlogs, issues, and workflows. Ensure team members have appropriate access and permissions.
Work to facilitate a high functioning team by resolving external blockers through process and workflow improvements.
Support the product owner and other team leads to manage new feature requests and bugs in the product backlog.
Consult with internal stakeholders and various departments on how best to interact with the development team.
Record team velocity and other metrics using burndown charts and related planning tools.
Be punctual, reliable, highly flexible, and excellent at balancing multiple detail-oriented projects.
Requirements
Required Skills/Experience
4+ years working as a scrum master for a software development team
First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)
Demonstrated experience administering all aspects of Jira
Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle
Some experience with other project management software: Trello, etc
Knowledge of other development strategies: XP, Kanban, Waterfall, etc
Great interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Skills/Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field required
Second level Scrum Master certification (CSP, PSM II, PMP, CSPO)
Experience working on remote, distributed teams
