Job Purpose and Overview
Appfire is looking for an experienced senior support engineer with software development and technical support skills. If you like to work with customers but don't want to lose your programming and scripting skills then this is a role for you. You will help solve customer business problems, researching their issues and recommending Groovy, Java and scripting based software solutions, that will have an immediate impact on their daily work. You will work as part of the Support and Sustaining team to help answer questions on many of our popular applications in the Atlassian ecosystem.

Many of Appfire apps are highly extensible and customers can extend and customize our apps using scripts, Groovy and Java. You will be responsible for effective troubleshooting, providing custom software solutions, and configuration of Appfire Apps in both Atlassian Cloud and Data Center environments while enabling continuing innovation within the support engineering infrastructure.

You will feel the satisfaction of solving real customer problems using code you developed and delivered. Your work will have an immediate impact on both existing customers and customers trialing Appfire applications.

What You Will Accomplish

  • Diagnose, configure, troubleshoot and solve software configuration issues associated with Appfire Apps in the Atlassian ecosystem consisting of Jira, Confluence, etc.

  • Write well-designed, well-structured, performant, maintainable custom code using Java, Groovy, Nunjucks, Javascript, HTML, etc.

  • Analyze and identify solutions by working collaboratively with external customers and internal development, sustaining, QA teams.

  • Solve customer business configuration issues with innovative software solutions involving Appfire apps, Atlassian and other vendor application libraries.

  • Participate in the shift related activities and associated processes in a 24X5 global support environment as needed.

  • About You
  • Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or comparable discipline.

  • Minimum: 4+ software development and customer support/QA experience.

  • Java and/or Groovy programming experience required

  • 5+ years of total experience working as a technical support and/or application software engineer.

  • Groovy Certified Engineer (Preferred).

  • Strong problem solving skills to quickly identify the root cause and recommend an effective solution.

  • Excellent Java/Groovy programming and scripting skills.

  • Customer problem solving and support skills.

  • Database and scripting skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Knowledge of Atlassian products (https://www.atlassian.com) and Appfire products are highly desirable.
