Job Summary
Leading a three-month pilot project, the Remote Sensing Analyst will work remotely on a contract basis to design and implement a feasibility study using satellite imagery and geospatial analysis to measure market-level economic effects of cash transfers.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the design of geospatial analysis to translate research hypotheses into testable proxies for market effects
- Source and evaluate satellite imagery and telecom data for study areas, assessing data quality and suitability
- Conduct exploratory analysis to detect changes in agricultural patterns, infrastructure, and economic activity, and document findings
Required qualifications
- Strong geospatial and remote sensing expertise with experience in satellite imagery analysis and GIS platforms
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for geospatial data processing and analysis
- Ability to translate economic and social research questions into technical geospatial proxies
- Experience sourcing and evaluating open-source data and troubleshooting data quality issues
- Clear communication skills to explain technical findings to non-specialists and document methodologies
