We here at Littera are on a mission to help students connect with tutors. We are the first software platform designed to help K-12 schools and districts design, deliver, and monitor their tutoring programs. What's it like to work here:

In this role you will lead and manage software engineering teams that participate in the continuous development of an industry leading experience to help students connect with tutors. This platform is key not only to help students learn, but provide the tools tutors need to communicate core concepts. Team members are comfortable with change and taking calculated risks, but most importantly, take ownership of outcomes. Collaboration and transparency is key and respect is given to all ideas.

You will manage software engineers on your assigned teams, assigning work according to individual strengths and team strengths
Lead standups and Agile cadence
Develop, motivate, mentor and coach team members to continually deliver industry best solutions for our customers
Provide expertise in developing best practices and processes for the full software development life cycle
Communicate with engineering leadership and product leadership on statuses and roadblocks.
Commit to completing well-defined work and deliver on those commitments.
Help break down, estimate work given to your teams by product or other engineering leaders.
Security is taken seriously and protecting student and tutor data is thought about in every aspect of the SDLC.
Strive to always build an experience that is accessible to make sure all students and tutors can successfully engage.
Ensure we are providing the best possible levels of customer service through identifying and implementing process improvements.

Requirements
What you need for this role:

3+ years in the following:
Managing, Coaching, and mentoring Software Engineers
Able to establish a delivery roadmap and lead the engineering team through it
Knowledge of and desire to work in an Agile/Lean development environment.
Ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels
Be able to evaluate, develop, and support engineers in taking their next career step
Communicate and collaborate with other managers and engineers to keep tasks on track and on target
Help identify when team members need help and support them
Be able to handle multiple priorities across multiple teams.
Strong understanding of cloud based applications.
Strong understanding of HTTP/REST/API architectures.
Familiarity with Jira and Jira process administration.
Understanding of the full SDLC.
Help drive tasks to completion.
Enthusiasm to learn and grow.
Knowledge of Java or Javascript is a plus
Resourceful self-starter with creative problem-solving skills who's willing to take ownership of results.

Hours of work:

We're a remote first company that works typical Monday through Friday hours. Since we like to get together, we ask that you'll be flexible for travel up to 5% for team events.
