Remote Tutor

Job Summary

To support a growing network of educational institutions, the contract Remote Tutor will facilitate online tutoring sessions using the Socratic method to enhance students' critical thinking skills and foster independence.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct online tutoring sessions via Upswing's virtual classroom, utilizing video, audio, and chat features
• Manage scheduling and availability to accommodate student demand, particularly during peak hours from Sunday to Thursday evenings
• Onboard new students and provide personalized support to help them achieve their academic goals

Required qualifications

• Advanced knowledge in the subject area, gained through an undergraduate or graduate degree, or relevant professional experience
• Access to reliable high-speed Internet and a quiet, distraction-free environment for conducting tutorials
• Experience in teaching methodology or prior tutoring experience at the college level is preferred
• Ability to commit to a minimum of 2-5 hours of tutoring per week during the fall and spring semesters
• Excellent academic performance in undergraduate or graduate studies
