Remote Young Writers Workshop Creative Writing Instructor in Sweet Briar

Job Summary

An institution of higher education has an open position for a Remote Young Writers Workshop Creative Writing Instructor.

Individual must be able to fulfill the following responsibilities:

• Develop and teach genre-specific curriculum to aspiring teenage writers in one of six genres: 1) fiction 2) creative nonfiction 3) poetry 4) scriptwriting (stage & screen) 5) songwriting 6) multi-genre (including short form & graphic text)
• Participate in readings/performances, collaborate with teaching assistants on parallel writing lab curricula
• Collaborate with other Creative Writing Instructors on programming, and assist in hosting visiting writers

Required Skills:

• Ability to work in Sweet Briar, Virginia
• Ability to provide a writing sample
• Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree
• Experience teaching creative writing at the secondary or post-secondary level
• Expertise in the craft of one or more creative writing genres and their instruction
• Knowledge of basic word processing and computer programs (e.g., Word, Google docs, PowerPoint, search engines)
