Job Summary

Supporting a government customer, the full-time Research Associate in Atmospheric Science will conduct innovative research at the intersection of weather prediction and machine learning, develop forecast improvements, and collaborate with engineering teams to transition research into operational systems, with potential for remote work for qualified candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct innovative research leveraging satellite observations for weather prediction and machine learning
• Develop, verify, and document forecast improvements that deliver measurable value to customers
• Partner with engineering and product teams to transition research advances into scalable, operational systems

Required qualifications

• Graduate degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, computer science, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience developing machine learning models for weather applications
• Strong fundamentals in ML engineering, including model training, validation, and evaluation
• Experience with cloud-based computing environments and handling large meteorological datasets
• Proficiency with modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
