Job Summary

To support a cutting-edge state Nursing Home Project, the contract Research Attorney will conduct legal research on state statutes and administrative laws that restrict nursing home admissions for currently or formerly incarcerated patients, working remotely from anywhere in the United States.

Key responsibilities
  • Review state statutes and administrative laws related to nursing home admissions for incarcerated individuals
  • Conduct research focusing on a minimum of three states with FAMM compassionate release clearinghouses
  • Identify legal barriers to nursing home admissions and propose targeted interventions to improve compassionate release outcomes
Required qualifications
  • Experience in drafting and analyzing regulations and legislation
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting
  • Familiarity with prison reform and compassionate release processes is a plus
