Job Summary
Researching utility termination warnings and negotiating payment solutions, the full-time Research Clerk will work remotely to analyze payment histories, contact utility vendors, and assist clients in avoiding service shut-offs.
Key responsibilities
- Research utility termination warnings, missing bills, and late fees, determining necessary actions based on payment history and account status
- Negotiate payment extensions and removal of late fees with utility vendors while providing written correspondence as needed
- Operate and maintain databases related to termination research and late fees, prioritizing critical research items according to departmental standards
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 6 months of previous telephone experience in customer service or collections
- General knowledge of utility billing principles and practices
- Ability to perform basic functions in the Microsoft Office suite
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
