Job Summary
To support impactful water resources projects, the full-time Research Environmental Engineer will collaborate on hydrologic, hydraulic, and reservoir modeling projects, utilizing state-of-the-art computational tools and working either onsite in Research Triangle Park, NC, or fully remote within the United States.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with the WARES team to implement and enhance water resources modeling tools
- Collect, analyze, and summarize technical and hydrologic data for modeling projects
- Develop and calibrate hydrologic and hydraulic models, ensuring quality control and data processing
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience, Master's degree with at least 3 years, or PhD with no experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in hydrologic watershed modeling and model calibration
- Proficiency in statistical analysis of hydrometeorological time series
- Experience with open-source programming languages (Python, R, C#, VB.NET) for data management and analysis
- Familiarity with GIS datasets and basic geospatial processing using ArcGIS or QGIS
