Research Scientist

Job Summary

To support digital health and clinical informatics research projects, the full-time Research Scientist will perform technical, analytical, and data science operations, driving machine learning and systems engineering methodologies under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator, with the option to work remotely or onsite in Knoxville, TN.

Key responsibilities

• Implement predictive models and prototype clinical decision support workflows
• Establish technical integrations with clinical platforms under federal and institutional research grants
• Contribute to scientific writing, including peer-reviewed publications and federal grant proposals

Required qualifications

• PhD or advanced doctoral candidacy (ABD) in Biomedical Informatics, Nursing Informatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Quantitative Psychology, or a related computational/quantitative field
• Strong track record of scientific writing, including contributions to peer-reviewed publications and federal grant proposals (NIH preferred)
• Advanced proficiency in Python, R, and database querying (SQL)
• Hands-on experience developing and deploying machine learning or predictive models
• Demonstrated familiarity with NLP, text mining, or clinical language modeling
