Research Scientist, Tennessee

Job Summary

Leading the design, development, and testing of a cutting-edge robotic inventory system, the full-time Research Scientist in Tennessee will independently manage complex programming tasks, execute experiments, and author scientific manuscripts while working onsite or remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Develop complex computer programs using expert-level Python, integrating sensors and GPS-based navigation for tree inventory
• Plan and execute laboratory and field experiments to validate system accuracy and write detailed test reports
• Evaluate experimental outcomes, troubleshoot issues, and implement course corrections to ensure project success

Required qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Information Science, Computer Engineering, or Computer Programming
• At least three years of experience in design, development, methods, and data analysis for research projects
• Minimum of two years providing consultative services for research projects
• Three years of programming experience with Python
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered
