Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time basis, a Rhode Island Licensed Coding Specialist will review outpatient clinical documentation, assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Assign accurate APC codes and resolve coding edits using 3M 360 Finder, adhering to National Correct Code Initiative Edits
- Ensure medical record documentation supports code assignments and report any documentation insufficiencies to physicians
- Monitor and resolve rejected accounts on the Claims Edit Report and maintain timely coding and billing processes
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with successful completion of a formal coding educational program
- Coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC is required
- One to two years of experience in outpatient coding or billing
- Ability to read and understand outpatient clinic medical record documentation
- Proficiency in maintaining established quality and productivity standards
