Job Summary

To support Rhode Island's electric distribution system, the full-time salaried Rhode Island Licensed Distribution Engineer will develop construction work packages and perform engineering calculations while working remotely after initial in-office training.

Key responsibilities
  • Design and develop construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems
  • Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis and fault current coordination
  • Prepare forestry trimming requests and facilitate permit and Right-of-Way acquisition
Required qualifications
  • BS degree with 0-1 years of experience, or BA/AS degree with 2 years relevant experience, or HS diploma + 6 years of experience for Level 1; BS degree + 2 years relevant experience for Level 2
  • Experience with ESRI, AutoCAD, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus
  • Familiarity with Pole Loading software and SAP
  • Experience with distribution design projects, including medium voltage switchgear and voltage conversion
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients and project teams
