RN CDI Specialist

Job Summary

To support the CDI department's flexibility and quality, the full-time RN CDI Specialist will manage physician documentation, conduct medical record reviews, and collaborate with healthcare providers while working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

• Completes initial and subsequent medical record reviews within 24-48 hours of patient admission and documents findings in the CDE software system
• Assigns principal diagnoses and evaluates severity of illness and risk of mortality, ensuring accurate coding and DRG assignments
• Educates healthcare providers on clinical documentation improvement and collaborates with coding professionals to ensure documentation accuracy

Required qualifications:

• Current RN Licensure
• Minimum of five years of acute care nursing experience, preferably in medical/surgical, Intensive Care, or Emergency Department settings
• CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on physician relations
• Proficient in computer skills and able to prioritize effectively
