SBA Loan Underwriter

Job Summary

To support loan evaluation and credit review activities, an experienced SBA Loan Underwriter will work remotely on a contract basis, focusing on assessing SBA 7(a) loan opportunities, reviewing borrower financials, and producing clear credit recommendations that align with established lending standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review SBA 7(a) loan files and perform thorough credit analysis to determine transaction quality and lending viability
• Examine financial statements and supporting documentation to assess repayment capacity and risk exposure
• Develop well-structured credit memoranda summarizing borrower qualifications and underwriting recommendations

Required qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience underwriting and spreading SBA 7(a) loans
• Working knowledge of SBA eligibility standards and general underwriting guidelines
• Ability to evaluate financial statements and legal documentation accurately
• Demonstrated skill in recognizing credit risk and recommending appropriate mitigants
• Background in commercial or small business loan underwriting, including credit analysis
